GALA WEEK AT AUCKLAND

Auckland, April 14,

It is likely that one of the most interesting features in gala week on the occaisou of the visit of the American fleet to Auckland will be the great Maori Hui, in Victoria Park. King Mahutu, who is in Auckland, expressed himself highly euthsiastic. He believes a native gathering could bo held in Auckland on such a scale as was never known before. As a representative of the original .owners of the soil it would be a pleasure to welcome the fleet, and that pleasure would be shared by his people. The Mayor has convened a meeting of citizens for April 24th, to initiate a programme for the entertainment of tli© American fleet, and has wired to the Premier asking the intentions of Government.
