Drought in the north-eastern districts is very severe. Many owners are compelled to hand feed large quantities of stock and are sending stock to other districts. The stock returns show the number of horses in the State as 424,648, cattle 1,843,805, [sheep 14,116,734. In each case the figures are a record. Sheep have increased 1,309,000.
