Telegraphists in India who heretofore had three hours interval for sleep during the night watch were ordered to take eight hours continuous duty day or night. They objected and asked for an increase of 35 per cent in pay. The Viceroy supports Mr Newlands, the British Post Office expert sent to India, in enforcing the new regulations.
