A NEW DEVELOPMENT. Presß'Association —Copyright. Received April 13, 9.75 p.m. Sydney, April 13. There is a new development of the strike. Seamen employed in the Illawarra and Newcastle Companies refused to work with non-Uuioniats and left the vessels. Received April 14, 9.20 a.m. Sydney, April 14.
The strike has been settled. The Seamen’s Union agreed ’to coastal shipowners having a month to arrange for all non-nniouist crews being brought together ‘.into sis steamers. Meantime Unionists and iion-Uniouists work together on the
vessels. Trouble has also cropped up at Newcastle where 33 out of 38 non - Unionists employed at Newcastle by Hunter River Company struck on the ground that under the new agreement they wore paid casual rates instead of weekly wages. Eeleven returned to work and the places of the others wore filled by Unionists.
