AUSTRALIAN STRIKE.

Per Press Association. —Copyright Syduley, April 10.

The chief point at issue when the conference adjourned on Wednesday was whether the members of the Institute of Marine Engineers should return to work while allowing the engineers engaged on the coastal boats during the strike to complete their terms of, agreement with the companies, some of which it was stated would run to 12 mouths. At a ballot of the Institute to-day it was decided to allow free engineers to complete their agreement and subsequently a meeting of the representative of the coastal companies accepted the provisional agreement.

A meeting of the Unions affected is*now in progress. The latest report is that they have refused certain proposals in the agreement and the strike remains unsettled.
