The sheep pens, notably those set aside for stores, were filled to overflowing and great difficulty was experienced in finding accommodation for the mobs that poured in from all direotous and the entrv was a record for the yards. The entry of fat cattle numbered 291 head, including some animals of better quality than had been sent forward for some weeks, There was a good demand for finished steers, which sold un to last wces's quotations. Heifers sold wed, although the yarding did not include any high-class auima's. Toere was a good sale of cows. Steers made from £6 5s to £lO 13s Gd (the ‘utter price being paid for annuals of extra quality), heifers £4 5s to £9 15s for ordinary and up to £lO 10s for extra. Best steer beef made from 20s to 24s 6d, medium 17s 6d to 19s Gd, and cow beef las to 17s per 1001 b. The yarding of fat sheep was considerably in excess of requirements. Export butchers again abstained from operating. Competition was confined to local butchers, with the result that prices suffered . a decline, values falling Is to Is Gd ’ ' all round. There was a large number of sheep in indifferent condition, and which should have been classed as forward stores rather than as fat. The range of prices was: — Prime wethers 19s to 255, lighter _ 14s to 18s, unfinished 10s to IBs, prime ewes 17s to 19s, medium 12s IGs, aged and light 9s to 11s Gd. Thera was an average yarding of fat lambs, fairly large proportion of which were unfinished. For the

best class of freezers there was a good demand, both export buyers aud local butchers operating freely. Inferior sorts were dull of sale.

Tees mads tip to 18s, best freezers 13.-Tfid to 16s 6d, and light and unfinished sorts 11s to 13s. The einry of store sheep was again large, but a considerable proportion vyas of second grade and showed signs of travel. There were some excellent two and four-tooth owes in addition to several lines of good wethers. The lambs were from inferior to medium, and included only a few lots of rape lambs. The average 4-tooth were a shade easier. Top lots only realised prices equal to those of last week. Best quality made from 16s 6.1 to 19s, medium to good 12s to 14s, and poor from 7s (id upwards. Four-tooth ewes made tip to 18s, forward lambs realised Ss fid to 10s, extra making to 11s fid, fair average 7s fid to 8s fid, love condition lambs 6s to 7s, and culls 3s to os fid. There was a largo entry of fat pigs, which met with a fair demand. Choppers made to 4s lOd, heavy baconars 60s to (58s, lighter 48s to 555, equal to jod Tier lb; porkers BSs to 44s for large, ana 39s to 35s for medium, equal to u.ldd per lb. The demand for stores' was very poor, and it was difficult to effect sales at any price. Medium made from 13s to los, and large 30s to 255. Weaners made from 5s to 10s. STOCK SALES.
