Elevation made an appearance at Rand wick, and in company with Bright Steel covered six furlongs in Imin 18sec. Maranui, with a light weight up, ran [7 furlongs in Imin 29seo. Melbourne, April 6. Grenadier won the Hill Handicap at Plemington beating Lorenzo by two lengths in Imin 15% sec. Munjeefc has been sold to an Indian buyer. The price has not transpired.
The Thames-owned Sonltine has been scratched for all events at the Manawatu Meeeting. Mahuta and Moeraki in charge of T. Lloyd, leave for Auckland on Saturday to take part in the Easter engagements. W. Fahey, who has been engaged to ride Moeraki, [is at present in Marton. The probable starters for the Fourth Manawatu Stakes are:— Yasa 8.7, Muritai 8.0, Husbandman 7.7, Aborigine 7.4, Diabolo 6.11, Elysium 6.9. When doing a trial gallop on the Ashhurst track on Saturday morning the well-known performer in hack company, Greenleaf, by Sou’-wester —Lorelei, met with a mishap which will put an end to her racing career. When rounding the home~turn she suddenly broke down and on being pulled up it was seen it was a serious case the seat of the injury being in the rear [fetlock. Mr G. E. Owen, Y.S., was sent for, and he set the split pastern and put it in plaster of Paris, with a view of saving the mare for breeding purposes.
