FEILDING WOOL SALE
Messrs A. H. Atkinson & Co.. Ltd., report haying held their usual monthly sale of wool, skins and hides, "and offered an average catalogue to a large attendance of buyers. As expected wool and skins were easier in sympathy with outside markets, and hides sold above expectations. Quotations. —Wool, fleece medium 4%d to mxed 4d, dead bright 5%d, medium 8%, black 8)0, lambs 4)0, od, locks and pieces l%d to2h<d. Skins—crossbred fine coarse to 4%d, broken to dead B%d, inferior 2>£d f broken %d \ pelts 3d, inferior broken %0 to 1 lid-, lambs broken dead 2s, butcher’s, short, Is 5d to 2s ; lambs Is 6d to 2s ; lambs pelts Is od to Is Id. Hides : calf sound 4%d to 4)0, yearlings 3%d, cows, ilght B%d to 4d, heavy 4)/0, slippy 1)0, cut 8)/0, ox, light 4%d, medium heavy 5%d, bull 3d, slippy Id, horse 2s 6d each. Tallow: Casks 21s 6d, tins los to 19s 6d per cwt. Horsehair Is Id per lb.
STOCK REPORT. 5 Messrs Dalgety & Co., Ltd., „report having held their usual weekly sale at Palmerston North on the |2nd inst., when they submitted a good entry of sheep and a fair yarding of cattle to a large attendance of buyers. Bidding. for sheep was fairly keen, and we quitted our whole entry at the following prices:—Four-tooth wethers 12s lOd to I3sl d; 4-tooth wethers small 10s 4d, 2-tooth wethers 11s 4d, 4,5, and 6-year good Lincoln skinned ewes 15s lid, ewe lambs small 5s 8d to 6s, ewe lambs 3s, mixed culls ss, rape lambs 8s to 10s 3d, fat and forward lambs 10s 9d to 11s 9d, fat bullocks medium weights £7 10s to £7 11s, fat cows £4 19s to £5 :7s 6d ; store cows 80s. The N.Z. Loan & Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd., “reprot as follows :—At Palmerston on Thursday we had a good yarding of cattle and a medium entry of sheep. There was a keen demand for good conditioned cattle and fat stock. We quote; 4-tooth wethers 11s 6d, Romney rams 4%gs,fShropshire rams £7, weaner cattle 8s to 14s, store cows 13s 6d to 335, 2-year heifers 27s 6d, forward cows £2 8s to £3 12s, forward heifers £2, fat cows £6 2s 6d, forward bullocks £5 14s 6d, bulls 37s 6d to £3 12s 6d. LONDON WOOL SALES. Messrs Abraham & Williams have received the following cable from London, under date Ist April The sales have closed firm for crossbred and prices are higher by ){d to %d per lb. The total quantity held over is 800,000 bales, of which 30,000 are New Zealand.
