ADDINGTON MARKETS. Per Press Association. Christchurch, April 1. The yarding of all classes of stock at the'"Addington yards to-day was large, especially fat and store sheep. As at the previous sales since the drought broke up, store sheep attracted considerable interest. The fat cattle pens contained 36.8 ~head, including some very useful sorts. The demand, except for the best quality, was weaker than at recent markets, the average decline being about Is per lOOlbs. Best steer beef made from 20s to 24s 6d, medium 17s 6d, to 19s 6d, and cow beef 15s to 17s. Steers realised £6 5s to £lllos, extra to £l2 os, heifers £4 17s 6d to £7 17s fid and cows £4 5s to £8 12s Gd. There was a fair yarding of veal calves, which realised from 4s 6d to 60s.

There was a large entry cf fat lambs, the bulk being of fair average quality. There was a good demand, and prices showed a slight improvement on those ruling last week. Both butchers and freezing buyers’ operated freely. Tegs made up to 17s, best freezers 13s 6d to IGs 6d, and lighter sorts 11s to. 15s. The entry of store sheep was an " exceptionally large one, but the quality, taken as a whole, was only ordinary, the bulk being in poor condition. The entry included a few lines of special quality, the majority of the sheep showing signs of travel and the recent period of dry weather. The demand, as compared with mo buoyancy which characterised last week’s market, showed an easing tendency, due no doubt to the indifferent class of sheep oifered. Forward lambs and the best class of ewes were in fair demand, and other descriptions of ewes were easier. There was a fair entry of fat pigs, which met with a rather weaker demand than last week. Choppers made up to £4, and ordinary baconers 47s to 50s, and large 55s to 525, equal to 5d per lb. Porkers realised from 80s to 425, equal to per lb. Stores, of which there was a large entry, elicited poor competition, and prices declined about 5s per head. Large stores made 32s to 365, and medium 20s to 28s. Weaners made from 6s to 12s. STOCK REPORT. The New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Agency Co., ;Ltd., report;—At Apiti on Tuesday we held a successful sale. There was a good atendance of buyers of sheep aud a good clearance was effected. A heavy yarding cams forward nearly all of which was sold under the hammer or shortly after. Quotations : Sheep: Woolly lambs 7s 6d, wether lambs 3s lOd to 4s Bd, mixed lambs 6s Id to os 3d, forward lambs 7s 4d, 2-tooth wethers 11s Id to 11s 9d, fat and forward wethers 12s, 4tooth ewes 13s, 4-tooth and f.f.m. ewes 12s 3d, f.m. ewes 4s 9d to 10s 2d, fat and forward ewes 10s 6d to lls 3d. Cattle: Forward empty heifers £2 18s to £3 16s, speyed heifers £2 16s, empty heifers £2 2s 6d.
