Christchurch, April 1. ■ A boy named Albert Donald, aged 7 ydars, son of Donald Mcßay, of Le Eon’s Bay, was attempting to* climb over some rocks when a large-* boulder became dislodged, rolled over the boy, and pinned him to thtf ground. He was released by & neighbour and taken to the Akaroa Hospital, where he died early oa Monday morning. The accident oc»; cnrred on.'Sunday morning. -j The circumstances surrounding the’ death of Sidney Oadle, stock* auctioneer, for Dalgety & Co., who' succumbed to injuries received by being run over by a tramway _ loco-, motive last night, was investigated; at an inquest this afternoon. WiU liam Dick, tram inspector, stated that he saw the deceased run in' front of an approaching engine about ten yards away.’ . He shouted but thedeceased did not appear to take any notice. Other witnesses said thatdeceased, when crossing, seemed to. change his mind and hesitate, and was knocked down, the tram pulling up at the time. A verdict of accidental death was returned. j An inquest was held touch ing the death of John Templeton, who was' killed by being run over by a gig on Oxford Terrace, on Monday. Contradictory evidence was given rela*; tive to the position of the gig at the time of the accident. A verdict was returned that Templeton met hie death by injuries, the result of being run over by a gig driven on the; wrong side of the road. A rider wag; added that Wichrock, the driver of the gig when in that position, did all he could to avert an accident. Auckland, April 1. A 15-year-old boy, named ThomasHumphries, an inmate of the Child*’ ren’s Home, Remuera, was shot this, afternoon by the discharge of a gun, death being instantaneous. It appears the boy found a gun in a stableand after handling it placed it against the wall from where it fell, going off when it struck the ground, Humphries receiving the charge inthe side of the head. The boy had’ been in the Home five years and his - father resides in the ’King Country. Gore, April 1.
John Burke, a farmer residing at. Kaiwera, near Gore,, met with' a fatal accident at Gore this evening. > When riding over an asphalt footpath his horse slipped and fell,, throwing Burke to the ground with considerable violence. He- was picked up unconscious, his skullbeing fractured, and he died in a, few hours. He was an old resident of the, district.
