The Joint Executive of the Unions have decided that they are quite ready to meet the representatives of the coastal companies in conference at the earliest possible moment, with the view of coming to a settlement. Received April 1, 9.53 a.m. Sydney, April 1.
The fact that the Newcastle Company is managing-to despatch a number of steamers is causing uneasiness to strikers, especially carters who again threaten to trouble tlie North Coast Company’s steamers. The Bundah sailed yesterday atfer being delayed owing to alleged tampering with the machinery.
