Per Press Association. Christchurch, March 31. A conference between the Canter*' bury Sheep-owners’ Association and. the Oanterbry Shearers’ Union was held here to-day to see whether an arrangement could not be come to as ! at Palmerston North, to make & settlement outside of the Arbitration Court. Th claims of the shearers and the propositions of the sheepowners differed most radically on tie question of price, the sheep-owner*.’ proposing to pay 15s machine shearing, and 16s 8d hand shearing par 100_ with rations, 3s 4d more-without' rations; and the shearers claiming 23s 6d per 100 merinos and 21s par 100 other flock sheep.
