FIENDISH CRIME.
Trinidad. Col. (U.S.A.), Feb. I. An Italia:;, named Carmene Mozzo, was run out of Aguilar by the irate citizens, because, to punish his children he burned the ends of their fingers with matches. The man lias five boys and a. seven-year-old daughter. His wife says that although he is very good to her, he is cruel to the children. When thev are disobedient or need punishment, he grabs one of them and holds a burning match to the ends of its fingers until a blister is caused. He says that it is more effective treatment than whippnig as it lasts longer. It is alleged that one week he burned all of the fingers of his little daughter’s hand, and citizens of Anguilar became so indignant it that they reported him to the humane officers. Mozzo has left for parts unknown. He told his wife that he would send for her and the children when he was settled somewhere.
