THE ENGINEER’S STRIKE.
OONDEMNDED BY LABOUR LEADER. Press Association —Copyright. Received March 24, 8.58 a.m. London, March 23. Mr Barnes, general secretary of the Amalgamated Sociey of Engineers, in a speech in London, said that the engineers of the north-east were wrongly advised in regard to the rejection of the terms inasmuch as arbitration would have yielded better results than a strike fought on a falling market. The vote, he said, weakened the influence of trades unions.
