Steady rain is reported at Hastings An Auckland telegram states that owing to a heavy sea on the Manukau Bar the Takapuna’s departure for the South has been postponed until nine o’clock on Saturday morning. A meeting of delegates representing the local bodies of the district met at Palmerston yesterday and decided to ask for the appointment of a Royal Commission to report upon the steps proposed to be taken to control the overflow waters of the, Manawatu, Oroua and Pohaugiua rivers and all other matters in connection therewith.
