LONDON WOOL SALES. Press Association—Copyright. London, March 18. A joint catalogue of 7487 bales was submitted to-day, nearly half being New Zealand crossbred. There was poor competition owing to the miserable selection—mostly faulties. As compared with January closing rates, merinos declined per cent, and crossbreds 15 per cent. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. There were again large entries of store sheep and lambs, and moderate yardiugs in other classes of stock at the Addington yards to-day. There was a large yarding of store sheep, ewes forming a larger ;proportion. There was a fairly strong demand,. though it was not so keen as immediately after the late rain. Prices were about up to last week’s level, and a good clearance was effected. A number of buyers from the South relieved the market of a large proportion of the yarding. The entry of fat lambs was not quite so large as last week. There were some prime lines of tegs and ordinary freezing weights, but as usual there was a considerable proportion of light and unfinished lambs for offer. For all prime lots there was good competition, and prices were firmer, but other sorts sold at late rates. Tegs made 16a to 19s Cd, ordinary freezing weights 12s Gd to 15s Gd, light and unfinished 10s (3d to 11s. Fat sheep; Prime wethers made 20s to 25s 9d, lighter 14s 9d to 18s 9d, prime ewes 17s 6d to 21s, extra 22s to 265, medium 15s to 17s, aged and light 12s to 12s Gd. Fat cattle : The following was the range of prices:—Steers £6 to £lO 10s, steers £4 os to £B, and cows £4 12s Gd to £9 12s Gd. The average values were ; For prime steer beef 30s to 34s 6d, medium 7s Gd to 19s Gd, and cow beef 14s Gd to 17s per lOOlbs. Yeal calves sold at 5s to 4Ss. according to size and condition. Moderate entry of pigs in point of numbers, but the quality was generally good. Heavy bacouers made 00s to G7s, light 45s to 55a, equal to 5d per lb. An exceptionally prime line of seven bacouers sold up to 80s, porkers realised 36s to 475, equal to 6>£d to 5%d per lb, large stores 35s to 80s, medium 18s to 28s, and weaners 10s to 13s. Poor sale lor store cattle, the principal sales being a line of yearlings at 80s, three-year steers £8 10s, three-year steers £8 IGs, threeyear heifers £2 ss, and dry cows 20s to £B. There was a good,demand for springers, and best sorts of cows in profit sold at £5 to £8 9s, other sorts at usual rates. STOCK REPORT. Messrs Dalgety & Co., Ltd., report having held their usual fortnightly sale at Mangaweka on Saturday, March 14th, when we had a fairly large yarding of sheep, the whole of which were disposed of at the following prices';—Cull 3-tooth owes ss, cull 3-tooth wethers 7s Gd, aged ewes, boilers, 2s to 2s4d, mixed age ewes 7s 4d, small lambs 8s 7cl, inferior cull lambs Is Id, 2-tooth wethers, small, 9s, 2-tootn ewes, small, 10s Gd to 11s Bd. At their Marton sale on Monday® they had a good yarding of sheep, nearly all of which were quitted at prices as follows :—F.m. ewes 5s 7d, aged ewes, boilers, 2s 9d to 2s od, 2-4-6-tootb ewes, small, 10s, cull lambs Is Gd to Is lOd, medium lambs 5s Gd, fat and forward ewes 10s 3d, 2-tooth Lincoln rams 2-tooth Romney rams 245, 6-tooth Romney rams 14s 6cl to 20s, aged rams, boilers Gs Gd, s.m. ewes 9s 3d, :2-tooth wethers 11s 9d, fat and forward ewes and wethers 12s Id, 1 trap horse £lO, 1 set harness £3 2b. Loan and Mercantile reportAt Himatangi on Monday we_ had a heavy yarding of sheep which met with keen competition, resulting in a total clearance (with the exception of one pen) being effected under the hammer. Yery few cattle came forward, but those that were yarded sold well. A number of horses were yarded but although good money was offered vendors’ reserves precluded business being done. We quote sheep—2-tooth Romney ewes 18s 10d, 2-tooth to f/m. Romney ewes 11s Gd to 14s Id, f.m. Romney ew.es 11s, store ewes 7s 9d, cull ewes 2s 2d, fat and forward ewes 10s 8d to 11s Id, forward rape lambs 8s to 9s, woolly lambs 5s Id to 5s lOd, cull woolly lambs 8s Id to 8s 4d, shorn lambs 3s 5d to 4s 9d, 2 and 4-tootli wethers lls : 9d to 12s 5d,. forward wethers 13s Id to 13s 7d, Romney ram lambs 20s, mixed age Romney rams 21s, 2-tooth Romney rams 8 to Cattle, mixed-yearlings 31s, forward o&ws £2 Is to £2 Bs. Horses, draught mare and foal £4l, aged draught mare £ls. Messrs Abraham & Williams, Ltd., report on their Johnsonville sale as follows: —A fair entry of sheep. The bullocks were mostly of light medium quality, and a line of extra prime heifers. Beef sold freely. Best bullocks brought £8 7s Gd, £8 10s, £7 7s 6d to £7 £l7s 6d, light £7, heifers £7 10s to £7 los. A fair yarding of-sheep of good quality sold at last week’s rate. Best wethers 16s 5d to 16s lOd, light 14s 7d tol 5s 2d. good wethers 14s to 14s lid, ewes 14s Id to 14s -Bd, fat lambs 12s 9d, lls lOd, lls sd. "Wethers 2-tooth lOs to lls Gd, woolly lambs 8s Gd, small 5s 3d to 5s 9d, culls 3s Gd, shorn lambs 6s Bd, breeding ewes 9s, old culls 2s 7d, heifers 28s.
