New Plymouth, March 18, The Supreme Court Criminal Sessions opened to-day before Mr Justice Edwards. , Albert Hugo Korth pleaded not guilty to false pretences by means of a valueless cheque at Stratford. He was found guilty, sentenced to 18 months’ and ordered to the habitual offenders’ prison af New Plymuoth, he having a long record of previous convictions.
Sandy Birch, alias Brown, alias Johnson, pleaded not guilty to the theft of a saddle, bridle, and breastplate. Prisoner, an old offender, was sentenced to two years’ hard labour.
A. J, Stewart pleaded not guilty to charge of common assault on Detective Boddam, and assaulting with intent to commit actual bodily harm. The prisoner was found guilty and sentenced to three mouths’ hard i i laosßaDrass&si labour. Leonard Oopestake, a lad of 16, came up for sentence for forging and uttering a cheque at Inglewood. On account of his youth he was admitted to probation for two years, and ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution in instalments. Palmerston, March 18. At the Supreme Court, to-day, J. F. Symons and Albert D. Brown, for having assaulted and robbed Rob. Patterson, of Shannon, of one bottle of whisky and 7s fid, were sentenced to 3 % years 4 imprisonment with hard labour. John Ohalker was acquitted on a charge of robbery with violence.
