Press Association. Palmerston N, March‘l7. ' At the Supreme Court, to-day, before Mr Justice William Waugh, a settler, of Stoney Creek, was found guilty of assaulting and causing grievous bodily harm to Constable Connor. The affair took place in December last, and the Constable was endeavoring to arrest Waugh for drunkenness when the latter stabbed him with a knife he had in his hand. Mr C. P. Skerrett appeared on behalf of the accused, and succeeded in knocking out the major count of intent to cause grievous bodily harm. A large amount of evidence was heard on both sides, the case occupying the greater part of the day.
