SALE OF PIRINOA.

The sale of the Feilding suburban property known as Pirinoa is exciting considerable interest, and numerous applications have already been made to the auctioneers (A. H. Atkinson & Co., Ltd.), for litho plans, both locally and from Wellington and Wanganui. The litho plans are very complete and effective, and can now be had on application. Pirinoa, a Maori name meaning “to hold on to for a long time,” formed originally part of the Giesen estate, being a continuation of what have been known as the Lethbridge hills. The approach is from the end of the Kimbolton road, and from the points of view of accessibility, distance from town, the general lay of the country for building purposes, and the magnificent view obtained, it is probably safe to say that there has not, since Mr Lethbridge’s original sub-division some ten years ago, been previously offered anything approaching the present opportunity for securing choice building allotments on the hills. It is largely a fact that the people of the towns are only now, and perhaps somewhat tardily, recognising what every traveller from other parts of the world realises in a moment, viz., the quite exceptionally beautiful and expansive view obtained from these hills, and it is not going one step too far to say that no one of those whose taste and good fortune have led them to buy and build on one of the hill sites would now exchange their present position for anything to be offered elsewhere. In Christchurch, in Wellington, and in other towns, the pocket-haudkerchief-patches of land on the hills with an outlook are the most valuable of properties. The sale of the Pirinoa lands takes place on Friday evening nest, at 7.30 p.m.
