Latest reports from the Hooded districts say that the water is receding. In Tamworth main street it stood waist deep and much damage was done to business premises. The caretaker and his family on the show ground were rescued from the roof *of "’theTTionso! A youth at Pousonhy was drowned while attempting to swim the river. Round Boggahri, Narrabri, Gunnedah and Wawa, wide areas of crops are submerged and it is feared much damage has been done and that there will ha serious losses of stock. Narrabri cemetery is under water and a funeral was'blocked. The railway for miles is flooded and there are many washawaysj The service is dislocated.
Farmers along the lower Manning river will lose heavily. Stanford Merthyr colliery at Karrikarri is flooded aud work is stopped.
