AUCKLAND TRAMWAYS.

Per Press Association. Auckland, March 13. The report by the Electrical Engineer, to the City Council stated that the present dislocation of the tramway service arose from engineering troubles, with the steam plant, the Company having failed to provide adequately against the breakdown of any portion of the plant. The Council" decided to instruct the Engineer to iuspect the tramway plant and general equipment, and report what he thinks absolutely necessary to prevent a recurrence of the breakdowns and stoppages of traffic, which have been frequent during the last few weeks. The Council also adopted a recommendation by the committee to demand from the Tramway Company £8 per day for neglect to provide sufficient cars, and in the event of non-compliance to issue a writ for recovery.
