FIRES.
Press Association Auckland, March 13. A two-storied house at Onelmuga, occupied by Mr Wadham and liis family, was destroyed by fire this morning. A son and Mr Wadham, who were asleep upstairs, had-a narrow escape, and the girl, when being lowered from a window by a rope, fell and injured one arm. Mr Wadham was awakened at 3 o’clock by a crackling noise, and on opening his bedroom door was met by a rush of flame and smoke. He slammed, his door and called Ids daughters, who had been awakened by their mother's screams. The flames had a good hold and the staircase was a burning mass, so escape by that means was cot oif. The two girls went to their brother’s room and all with difficulty' made an exit from the upper |wiudow by a rope. Both girls and their brother were burned about the face and body, and the injuries of Ivy Wadiaau are somewhat serious. The family escaped in their night attire. The furniture was insured for £IOO aod the building for £3OO in the Victoria.
A dwelling house at Matamata, owned and coupled by Mr Harding, sen., was destroyed by fire early yesterday morning, and nothing was but a little furniture saved,
