A sensational sequel to tho recently reported wreck of a schooner ,at Apainama Lagoon, in tho Gilbert Group, is to hand hy the Island steamer Germania. Hayes, an .employee of Messrs Burns, Philps & Co. visited the wrecked schooner, and obtained a statement from the cabin boy Jackson. The schooner, named
Ncuve Tigre, sailed under the Italian flag, being owned by tho master and mate, and left Oaliao early in November, with a cargo or fifty tons of coke. The crew consisted of the captain, mato, and tho rook (who was a Belgian named Mortimer), and Jackson. Tho first da3' out, the cook attacked tho mate with a tomahawk wounding his .’dead, but ho escaped into tho rigging. Tho captain, hearing the scuffle, came out of his. cabin, whoa tho cook felled him with a tomahawk. Then, securing a. gnu, ho compelled (under threats of Mooting) the captain and mato to jump overboard. Tho cook scared Jackson into assisting him to jettison iino cargo, and do other work. The cook told Jackson that ho intended to call at Tahiti, and thou go to Australia, where lie Loiied to soli tho schooner,. the name of which ho took the precaution to
