WAITUNA WEST.
From Our Own Correspondent,
The weather here lately has been very warm, almost [suffocating, with heavy rains, which are having a good effect on the grass and late turnip crops; you can almost watch them grow. On Friday last R. Olimocut his foot, at Gierke’s sawmill, which necessitated the wound being stiched up. He is getting on well again now. This is the second accident this young man has had since the mill has been here.
I am sorry to report an accident to MisslPhyllis Humhhrey.Jlt appears Mr Noble’s little girl and she were rifling on one horse up to school, when they both came off, Mr Humphrey’s daughter falling on her elbow, breaking her arm above the elbow and splintering the joint. The arm is very badly swollen, too much to get it set yet On Monday last Mr Feild.fwho has recently been on a prolonged visit to the Old Country, gave a very interesting and instructive lecrture, in the schoolroom, in aid of the Church Trust Funds. The lecture was entitled “Impressions of the Old Land.’’ On the whole Mr Feild was not very favourably impressed by the state of affairs in Britain. I think the lecturer deserved a larger audience than he did have on that evening. Jin the absence of the Trustees, Mr O. M. Powell occupied the chair.
Our sports meeting has been postponed for a week.
