The general committee of above met last evening, Mr H. J. Booth, president, presiding. CORRESPONDENCE. From B. K. Bennett, representative of H. S. Fitter and .Sou, acknowledging Society’s letter in reference to lambs and sheep which have to be judged in London, and intimating that carcases were being sent Home by the Kumara, and the Society’s instructions would ho carried out. From Gear Meat Co., stating that the net charges in connection with show sheep and lambs frozen and scheduled on account of the Society amounted to £9 15s 2d. Eighty-five lambs and 24 sheep had been consigned Home to Fitter and Sou. — Amount to be paid when returns are received. From D Campion, tendering his resignation as a member, being now out of the district. —Received. From S. R. Lancaster, donating Lis expenses as a judge at the recent show to the Societv, and stating that as he was out of the boundary he could not take the cup won by him. He acknowledged cheque for prize money.—Accorded a vote of thanks. From Wolseley Sheep Shearing Machine Co., intimating their willingness to add cup donated by them to next year’s programme. —Company to be thanked. From R. Tanner, Longburn, forwarding £2 2s special prize for most points in Romney flock classes. FINANCES. ) Accounts totalling £231 6s 2d were passed for payment. The cash book showed that £IO4O 15s had been paid out of general account, including £593 13s 6d prize money, and £313 15s 5d for permanent improvements. Receipts were : Members subscrijitions £393 9s 6d, donations £383 9s, entry fees £263 10s 6d, gates, lawn, guessing competitions, catalogues and booths £307 4s 9d. sundries £69 17s. The credit balance from last year was £297. The Society ran the luncheon booth on their own account under the management of Mr Lambert; 257 free lunches were provided for officials, visitors and the preso, and the proceeds just met the, expenses. The financial statement showed that the net profit on the recent show wr.2 between £4O and £SO. Votes of thanks were passed to Messrs Mayo, Weightmau,, and R. S. Brown, for the reportsjthey supplied in reference to the school gardens competitions. MessrsJJWeightmau and Mayo were each voted £4 4s as some recompense for their work, in addition to out of pocket expenses. Mr Mayo announced his intention of returning the grant as a donation to the Society. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the junior stewards who assisted at the show.
It was reported that Mr Lancaster was not entitled to the N. Z. Times’ Cup. Messrs Dermer and Standeu tied, and it was decided to engrave the names of both on the Cup. A donation of £3 8s was received from Mr A. J. Hastie for the best girl rider at the next show. Mr Bartholomew also presented 80s in prize money. Mr Goodbehere stated that the result of the show, from an attendance point of view, was disappointing. The crowd was estimated at 8000, and he certainly did not think it was less, and therefore it seemed to him there must be some leakage somewhere. He moved that the matter be referred to the Executive Committee to inquire into and report to the next meeting. Mr Cobbe seconded and the motion was carried.
