The court martial condemned General Stoessel to death, but without the loss of rights or honours owing to the heroic defence made by the Port Arthur garrison and StoessePs personal bravery, in acknowledgment of which the Court will ask the Czar to commute the sentence to ten years’ imprisonment in a fortress. The Court reprimanded General Fock, and acquitted Generals Reuss and Smirnoff. Loudon, Febrxxary”3l. (S The Times says the condemnation is deserved, as Stoessel conspicuously failed in his duty and lacked the requisite indomitable pioi’al courage.
