STRANDED BULGARIANS.
Press Association.—Copyright. Received February 15, 12.28 a.m. y Melbourne February 14. The Hon. T. Best informed the Senate that the stranded Bulgarians came out as the result of wicked misleading representations of certain unscrupulous agents whom it was impossible to identify. These agents garanteed to land them in New Zeaaud or Australia, but were not responsible if the Government of either country objected to their landing. They have no right to claim their passage money back. The Bulgarians were informed that they would get work as soon as they lauded, payment at the rate of a pound per day being guaranteed until they secured employment. Mr Best added that even if the Gorveumeut could discover the agents if was questionable whether they could have any control over them.
