SATURDAY HALF-HOLIDAY.
Press Association. Wellington, February^!3. A deputation from Wanganui interviewed the Hon. J. A. Millar this morning and questioned the legality of recent proceedings by which the Saturday half-holiday was declared in the borough. Mr A. D. Willis submitted that the fairest way out of the difficulty would bo to leave the issue to be settled by the ratepayers constitutionlly twelve mouths hence at the :muuicipal elections. Mr Lloyd Jones stated that the gazetting of Saturday would inflict a loss on many tradesmen. The Minister replied that neither Saturday nor Thursday would be gazetted till he had secured the fullest information on the subject. He desired to act in accordance with thd wishes of the majoirty of the townspeople. The whole trouble was that Wanagnui was a combined district. “
