HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. Press Association. Wellington, February 10. Tiie Department of Industries and Commerce lias received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated Loudon, February Bth ; The mutton market is weak aud there is no change in prices. The lamb market is quiet, Canterbury brands being quoted at (5d per lb. The beef market is steady. Hindquarters are quoted at forequarters at per lb. The butter market is very'firm aud excited. There is strong demand at full prices and supplies do not meet requirements. The market is active for future delivery and there is little chance of any advance. Following are current quotations :—New land batter 130 s, Danish 31Ss, Australian 1335, and Argentine 133 s per cwt. The cheese market is firmer, but prospects are uncertain. White makes are quoted at 61s, coloured at 635, per cwt. The hemp market is steady and there is better demand. Reports from Manila indicates steady shipments for some time. Current quotations are : —Good fair grade on spot £2B, fair grade on spot £27 10s, fair current Manila on. spot £2B 10s. Jauuary-March shipments of good fair grade £2B, fair grade £27 ss; fair current Manila £3B 10s. The cocksfoot market is a shade weaker. Bright dressed seed 171bs per bushel is quoted at 755. The wool sales have closed, superior and medium Merino being in active demand at full prices, but inferior grades were not in demand. The market is firm for fine crossbreds of all grades, but for medium and coarse crossbreds ofall grades the market is dull. Follow-ing are estimated values Superior Merino Is to Is 3d, medium lOd to Is, inferior 644 d to Od, fine crossbreds all grades Is to Is 2d, medium to ll>Jd, coarse (ijkd to Bd.
