Christ's College, played on the College ground, Christchurch, resulted in an easy win for the Nomads. The wicket was slow after rain. . The Nomads declared their innings closed when 381 had been made for eight wickets. Marshall made 129, Butterworth 47, Miles 48 (not out). The College made 131. Broad took five wickets for 60. The College had just come back to school, and therefore were out of form. Cook, Deacon and Jennings batted nicely. Ail Christchurch cricketers did everything to make this week very pleasant, and a team will probably come up to Martou next year. FEILDING Y. FEDERALS.

A CLOSE FINISH. Fending v. Federal match was resumed and concluded on Saturday. Feilding, with a lead of 30 runs on the first innings, put on 85 in their second effort, Ongley 37 and Montgomery 15 being the only double figure getters. This left Federals 106 to get to win. The ninth wicket fell for 91 and the last added another 9, or only 6 short of the required total, the century just being reached when the innings closed. For Feilding Mason was most destructive, 6 wickets going down to him at the small cost of 36 runs, Ougley getting the other 4 for 43, The players in the above match complain semwhat bitterly about the bumpy nature of the wicket on the Sports’ Ground, which made the batsmen’s task none too pleasant or safe.

The Sandon and Rongotea Cricket Clubs played a match at Sandon on Saturday, Sandon went in first and Walters made the highest score. The total was 73. Rongotea made 80. The following will represent the Cosmopolitan 0.0. againts Rata, at Marton, on Wednesday next: —A. Moon, D. Henderson, T. Ross, P. Sugdeu, Kelleher, D. Pattie, J. Scott, F. Dunne, J. Minifie, O. Outts, F. Howell. Emergencies: T. Latham, M. Walters, and B, Jolly. Practice will be held every evening this week. The Carpenters of Marton played a cricket match against the Cosmopolitan Club at Marton on Saturday, and after a keen contest the latter won by 53 runs. The Cosmopolitans contributed 197 runs, T. Ross playing a faultless innings for 121 not out. The other double figures were W. Nuttall 20 and G. E. Gibbons 13. The Carpenters compiled 145, S. Hunt being top scorer with 35, closely followed by D. Henderson, who made 31 by good cricket.
