SHOOTING.
EIWITEA RIFLE ASSOCIATION. The* ninth annual meeting was held at Cheltenham yesterday. The smoke from surrounding bnshfires and a tricky wind made shooting difficult. Mr W. S. Penny, captain of Sandon-OllakCa Rifle Club, won the belt, With 130 „points off the rifle, the same- sobre as Col.-Sergt. Aitken-,. Manchester Rifles, won it with last year. The teams match resulted in a tie between Manchester Rifles add Kimbolton Rifle Club, and in the shoot off, one shot each per man at 700 yards, Manchester Rifles scored 14 to the club’s 9. There were about 40 competitors. The prize list in each match was 255, 15s, 10s, four of 7s 6d, fly© of ss. Following are the results : Amtt Match, 200 Yards.

First Sweepstake T birds..—Mercer, 6, Powell 6, Gladstone 5,. Kinder 5, Barthorp 5, Ritchie 5. The shoot off resulted in Mercer 1. Powell 2, Gladstone 3. Second Sweepstake.—Hammond 1, Kinder 3, Haycock 3; Double Rise.—Kinder 1, Robertson 3. Despite the smoke and bad light a most enjoyable day was spent.
