LABOUR LEAGUE CONFERENCE

Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. At the annual conference of the Independent Labor League to-day it was decided to delete ‘ ‘ Independent • ’ from the title of the organisation. A lengthy discussion ensued on a motion that no member of the Labor Party shall join any Ministry not mainly composed of their own party unless approved of by two-thirds of the party in the House. The motion was negatived by 10 votes to 4. It was agreed that League candidates fox; Parliament have their expenses paid by the League; if returned, candidates to pay 10 per cent, of their salary to the League. Some who voted for the motion explained afterwards that they did so thinking that there •would be an amendment to strike out the last clause. A committee was appointed to draw up i fighting platform for the approaching general elections. The Hon. J. r.
