Wellington, Last Night. _ Wellington and Otago met this afternoon at cricket, which so far lias been productive of some of the feeblest batting seen on the Basin Reserve for a long time. The visitors went in on a good wicket and were disposed of for 115, of which Fisher made 84 by vigorous hitting. The rest failed, but Siedeberg was wrongly given out l.b.w. when 21 and shaping for a good innings. Cobcroft took 4 wickets for 2. Wellington did even worse with the bat." No one could stand up to Torrance, the left-hand bowler, who clean bowled six men, only 23 so far being hit off him. His “yorkers” were especially deadly. Mahouy not out 16, is the only batsman who has shaped respectably. The total being only 55 with 4 wickets to fall. The wicket was in capital order. SCHOOL TEACHERS’ MATCH. Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The cricket matches between N.S.W. and Wellington teachers ended in a win for the visitors by five wickets. Wellington second innings closed for 158. This left the viistors 239 to make to win and they made these at a cost of 5 wickets. A complimentary smoke concert was tendered to the visiting teachers from New South "Wales who are to leave for Wanganui to-morrow. Mr F. H. Bakell, assistant-inspector of Schools in the Wellington Education District, presided.
