LAND BOARD.

Aii adjourned meeting of the Wellington Land Board was held on Thursday. Present: Messrs J. Stranchon, Commissioner (in the chair), A. Reece, J. Dawson, J. A. A’Court and O. J. Canton. In addition to the transfers published yestreday that of section 52, block 14, Pukeokahu, from E. R, Batley to A. O. P. Batley was approved. The “ subdivision and transfer of section 36, block 3, Hautapu, from J. Gill to the Rangitikei County Council, was approved. In connection with an application of J. Reid to transfer section 29, block 10, Apiti, to Messrs John W. and James Watt, it was resolved that there was no power to approve the transfer, as the Messrs Watt did not appear to be eligible to hold the land. T.*Buller’s application to transfer section 3, block 16, Kaitieke, to G. R. Gould svas refused, the Board having no power to grant the transfer. T. J. Torrey, juu., applied to transfer sections 8 and 11, block 9, Pukeokahu, to P. E. W, Beuck. — Deferred to see if Mr Beuck has complied with his improvement condition on his present holding. A. B. transfersection 34a, block 8, Tiriraukawa, to E. H. Nelly.—The Commissioner was intsructed to take legal advice as to whether the transfer could bo effected. The applications of Thomas Carter, Mrs A. Burling and M. Sullivan and E. Adair for transfer were dealt with in the same way. It was decided to inform D. M. Bickertou and others that the Board has no power to make any road access to their sections in Raurimu township. It was resolved to recommend that the area of the lease of J. and O. E. Vile, of sections 283 and 383, Ohakea Settlement, be reduced by 7 acres on account of laud washed away. An application from the Rangatana Timber Company to extend their water-race through sections 8 aud 7, block 5, Karioi, to the Manga-ehu-ehu stream was approved subjeet to certain conditions. Permission was given R. E. Hornblow to graze on part of section 5, block 9,' Hautapu, subject to certain conditions. A. Handley applied for permission to change the tenure of his_ lease of section 36, block 10, Kaitieke, to that of occupation with right of purchase.—To be informed that the law does not allow of a conversion. It was decided to permit Mr Curtis, statioumaster at Mataroa, to occupy section “15, Mataroa, rent free, on certain conditions. The Board approved of sections 1, 3,3, 8, 9 aud 10, block 8, and the whole of block 6, Ohakuue township, being permanently reserved as sites for public buildings. It was decirfed to allocate section 3, block 9, Ohakuue, as a site for a Mechanics’ Institute. Sections 11 aud 14, block 5, Pohaugiua township, are to be offered for lease at a rental of 10s per annum, tenure to be from year,to year. The Board approved of certain reserves in the Mangaweka North township being offered for lease by public tender. A. W. Meyer, lessee of section 53, Mangaweka, was granted three mouths’ extension of time by which he must reside on his holding. The Commissioner shmitted a summary of 77 rangers’ reports which showed that Go •were complying with the terms of their leases aud 12 were not.—lt was decided to take the customary action against defaulters.
