ANOTHER PIONEER GONE.

Per Press Association. ::_ , r i Masterton, Sunday. The death occurred on Saturday morning of the Rev. J. C. Andrew, owner of lea station, Te Nui. Deceased was born in 1822, and came to the Dominion from England in ISOC>. Mr Andrew purchased lea station in 1800. Ho acted for many years as Minister of the District and was twice returned to Parliament. [Mr John Chapman Andrew, who was an M.A. of Oxford, aud fellow of Lincoln College, began his colonial experience with exploration of the Southern Alps and the McKenzio Country, and settled for nine years on a Waitaki sheep run before coming north to the wild Wairarapa in 1800. He called the run he took-up there, and has over since held, by his own initials. It consists of 10,000 acres bounded by sea and the Whareama River and was noted for its Romueys and its polled Angus cattle. Mr Andrew, who took a keen interest in public affairs, was a member of tho first Road Board and County Council, aud the first Wellington Education Board, aud was .vice-chairman of the Now Zealand University which he assisted to found].
