THE QUEENSLAND FRUIT FLY.
Per Press Association. Wellington, Dec. 5. A shipment of apricots from Parramatta, Kydo, and other places near Sydney, which arrived by yesterday’s steamer, proved to he affected by the Queensland fly. The groat majority of tb6 fruit was free from the parasite, but on account of coutignity-tbe number of cases destroyed totalled 300, and only 50 got through. These latter were sold this morning at satisfactory prices, but the loss’ on the condemned fruit will total about £350. The plums by the same boat were free from the parasite, but the shipment was small. It realised good prices at this morning’s auction sales.
