THE TROUBLE IN NATAL.

It is stated that 'the Government lias evidence of a recent series of minders of loyal natives showing that it was intended to force all the natives into one canlp and then gave the signal for a general rising. The Government’s action took the"conspirators by surprise and saved the lives of other loyalists, including Chief Sibiudi, whom the Government is specially protecting owing to his fidelity at a critical period in P.HXI. , Tho Natal Advertiser s correspondent at ISshowo states that Diuizulu repeatedly offered to go to Maritzburg whenever required. He is ill, suffering from swollen legs. Mr Saunders, Commissioner for Znhilaud, conferred with Col. Mackenzie and accompanied a portion of troops to tho front. ~ Diuizulu telegraphed to the-Gov-ernment expressing surprise at the preparations and asking why, it ho was thought to bo in tho. wrong, he was not' tried and punished, if guilty. .. . Tlie telegram is attributed to the presence of 200 police watching Usntum until tiio main force arrives. Tho Government- acknowledged the message, but has not modified its plans. . , Col. Mackenzie has been given absolute power of discretion with a view to ending the intolerable situation.
