THE REDUCTION VOTE.
FAULTY DRAFTING OF BILL.
Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, Nov. 29. A hitch occurred in the Local Option' Court. Counsel for a leading brewery firm raised the points that tho reduction vote was not carr ried according to the wording oi the Act, and if carried, it was not gazetted as tho Act required. The president gives his decision on Monday.
Received Nov. 30, 102. a.m. Sydney November 30. Another point was taken in connection with the recent liquor vote which may prove equally fatal as the first. It was that although the Act provided that in the event of nolicense not being carried the votes cast for no-license should be added to those in favour of reduction, it failed to make clear or state in any way what should be done when this addition had been made. Parliament may have' intended that tho total for reduction and uo-liceuse should be counted against tho total for continuance, but tho intention was not expressed in the Act.
