Ho explained that personally he favoured the extension of (die franchise to women, but ho refused to promise that the subject would be mentioned In the King's speech at the opening pi' Parliament. Ifo characterised interruptions at meetings as g deplorable piece of folly. Many suffragettes wore ejected from lira (Mr Haldane’s) meeting at Beresford fwo hundred students carrying whistles, rattles, and bolls, prevented Mrs Paukluirst from addressing a meeting of suffragettes at 'Birmingham, finally dispersing the meeting with sulphuretted hydrogen. Mrs Pankhnrst threatens 'that hundreds of suffragettes will confront Mr Asquith if ho speaks at Birmingham.
