THE QUEENSLAND POLITICAL SITUATION.
PHILP VERSUS KIDSTON. Press Association. —Copyright. Received Nov. 21, at 0.5 a.m. Brisbane, Nov. 30. Mr Philp, Premier, announced that the Governor had granted a dissolution of Parliament. Ho moved the necessary resolutions for Supply, and thou moved an adjournment till to-morrow. Mr Kidston called for a division on the motion for adjournment. Tho latter was defeated by 37 to 35, whereupon Mr Kidston moved an adjournment till Friday. The late Premier made an attack on the Government. He said Mr Philp in advising the Governor to grant a dissolution, assumed a grave responsibility. When tho people knew what ho iiad done they would say to him (t out” with interest. Mr Philp interjected “I am prepared to take my chances. ’ ’ Mr Kidston said tho chances wore small. Mr Philp created a s eusatiou by declaring lie would use the people’s money to carry on, whether the people desired it or not. Mr Kidston hoped wiser counsel would prevail. If a battle had to ho fought ho would fight it because upon it depended the self-governing liberties of tho country. The motion for an adjournment until Friday was carried. ATTACK ON THE GOVERNOR. Received Nov. 21, 9.55 a.m. Brisbane, November 21. Mr Kidston, in the course of an attack on the Government, said his Government got into trouble simply owing to his consideration for the Governor, which prevented him from doing what Mr Eallauce did in New Zealand—ignoring the Governor and going direct to tho Imperial authorities. Ho declared that Mr Philp was tho only Premier Queensland had had who would hold office because tho Governor held a shield over him. Mr Philp announced that when the House again met he would anuouce Supply, and when that vote had been taken would tell the House what he intended to do. The House then adjourned until Friday.
