It was the first display of the kind by a Volunteer corps m Now Zealand, aud it was evident that much time and trouble had been spent in bringing men and horses to such an efficient stage. The intricate movements drew burst after burst of applause from the spectators. The competitions wore keenly contested. The tent pegging competition, both for single riders and in sections, afforded very good exhibitions of horsemanship. In the single rider class Mr L. Lovelock, of the Mauawatu Mounted Rifles, secured first place, whilst in the * tent pegging by sections the clever Feildiug Mounted Riefls squad, headed by Sergt.-Major Ranby, \ scored another good win.
