TEACHERS’ SALARIES.
P;r Press Association. Auckland, November 4. At the meeting of the Educational Institute it was reported that owing to regulation 7 the salaries of .seventeen teachers in grade O wore reduced in the March quarter by from os to £9 10s, totalling £47. The department had allowed a relnucl but had stated that next year the salaries in grade O would bo in strict accordance with the regulations. The. lusitutc felt that injustice was lucug done to the poorest paid teachers an referred the correspondence ou_ ho subject to the Executive with _a view to it bicug dealt with at 'the ;annualmeeting. ' The Institute also decided to ask the Department in staffing schools and paying salaries for 1908 to disregard the average or the proM'ut year, but to retain the average for the present year in all schools whoso grade would ho reduced.
