The American Mint at Work.
New York, November 1. The American Mint has been directed to immediately coin fifteen million dollars worth of double eagles to relieve the monetary stringency. The Governor of California announces his intention to proclaim a succession of legal holidays until confidence is restored. Ik is not expected that all the banks will observe the holidays. New York bankers are urging President Roosevelt to convene Congress to deal with the currency reform. President Roosevelt has promised to consider but gave no indication of his intentions.
