The 1.15 tram to Sumner to-day, which consisted of an oloctne car and three trailers, was run into by a traction engine at Woolatcm, considerable damage resulting. None ot the passengers were injured, however. The body of the man named Mischamp, drowned in tho River yesterday, has been recovered. There aro no particulars. Auckland, October 21. It is supposed to bo a case of suicide. Thoro are several young children. The Havelock correspondent ot the Mail wires re the shooting ot Mrs Margaret Jones that she was the daughter of Robert Forrest, and she was found shot with a pea rifle by her side at her father's residence She was 25 years of age, and leaves two children aged live weeks and thirteen mouths. Napier, October 20. At the inquest on tho body of Michael Henry, who died as tho result of the breaking of a grab chain when working on the "Harbour Board dredge, it wns ascertained that part of tho machinery which broke had been made locally and had never been tested by the Harbour Board. A verdict was returned that death had resulted from tho accident. The jury added a rider to the effect that it was advisable that in future tho Har-. bour Board should test tho strength of all chains and similar machinery used by them. .. , , n , „,, Lyttelton, October 21. *y
The body of an unknown man, too decomposed for recognition, was found floating near tho fisherman's steps in Lyttelton harbour this morning. Deceased was apparently a middle-aged man, oft 9iu or sft 10m in height and weighing about 12 stone. He was clean shaven with light brown or'auburn hair and was wearing a blue worsted or tweed vest blue trousers, lace up boots, striped tennis shirt and woollen singlet and drawers. Westpokt, October 21. Mrs McNeight, sen., was drowned while crossing the Totara River m a trap with her husband. A trace broke and the vehicle capsized. The old lady disappeared and her husband searched for her till he collapsed. The body has not been found. Auckland, October 21.
Wallaco Bros, launch, containing a fishing party of twelve, capsized on Whangapo bar on'Sunday evening aud seven were drowned, including David and Harold Wallace, flaxmillers, W. Adamson, clerk, Rawiri Rini and Thos. Yorke, mill hands, George Harris, saddler, Arthur Popplowoll, a boy. Those saved were Woolsoy Allen, jun , mill manager, Newell Irving, bush contractor, Richard Blundell, engineer of the launch, Wii Haro and Ned Topaa, mill hands. Adamson's body was recovered this morning. Search parties aro out.
