A GIRL'S FATAL LEAP.
An inquest was held on a domestic servant named Minnie Hunt, aged twenty-one, who climbed the tower of the village church of Saggart, Co. Dublin, and jumped to the ground 120 ft. below in full view of a horrifiod crowd. Mr Huttou, the girl's employer, said that she had been strange fin her manner, and was placd under restraint the day before. She managed to escape, and made her way to the church. The Rev. Father Seaver said that for three hours he knelt within a few yards of tiie girl on the top of the tower. He dared not approach closer, as each time he moved she advanced as if to throw herself over. He implored her to leave her terrible position, but she refused. He held up a crucifix, asking her to take it, but she would not, saying that she would meet him on the ground. Finally she shouted, "I will meet you below," and flung herself over. Sergeant Kelly, of the local constabulary, also described his efforts to induce the girl to leave her dangerous position. The jury retrunetl a verdict of suicide while insane.
