ANOTHER AIRSHIP.
A Dunedin Invention
Per Press Association. Dunedin, October 11. Mr L. Warsaw, a merchant tailor of this city, lias invented an airship, the entire principle of which, it is claimed, is new. iThe inventor says that the lifting of the machine is accomplished by means of four balloons joined to a central mast, making them all as one compact body, and that on' e the ship rises to a sufficient height two wings or gliders attached to the apparatus will act in the same capacity as a parachute j fiat is to say, there will be sufficient air pressure beneath them to act almost independently of artificial lifting powers. Should any accident oomr, there would be no fear of the apparatus coining to grief. The gliders rest upon air chaub ’rs and thu become self acting. Under any current of air or adverse winds their action would resemble that of a bird on tho wing. A rear shaft is adjusted on a similar principle and should a gust of wind strike the front of the apparatus an adjustment to the rear shaft is said to have a counteracting influ nice and to steady tho machine. The driving is by means of four propellers, two on each side, acting independently of each other ani driven by two small motor engines, one at each end of the machine. On turning, either or both can be used and this in itself will act is ,a steering gear. The invention will be placed before the New Zealand Government,- and if deemed worthy of consideration will be placed before the Imperial Government.
