Gillies was appointed. The dates are 23th and 29th November. Fmm Mr H. E. Smith, stationmaster at Palmerston North, stating that the , small number of passengers who tra- elled ‘ on the U p.m. train on the second day ? last year does not warrant tho running of thfe train this year. There were, only 40 Ipassengers last year. I From the Waimrapa and East Coast A. and P. Association, in‘the matter of stock being detained at Wood villa Mr Arthur, the Traffic Superintendent, had promised them last Jane that the matter should receive attention. SHOW DATES, . On the motion of Mr M. Cohen, it was decided to fix the dates for Manawatu A. and P. Association’s Show In 1908 for the 4 th, sth and 6th of November.
MISCELLANEOUS. At the suggestion of Mr W. F. Outward it was decided to accept entries for the kennel show in accordance with the recommendation of the N.Z. Kennel at the rates ruling in their own clubs. There was considerable discussion as to competition of professionals in connection with O’Neill’s bnckjampers. It was held that amateurs would be disinclined to enter if professional entries were allowed. It was finally decided not to accept O'NeiU’s entries for the riding, jumping, or driving competitions, but not to bar the horses, etc., of professionals where shown in the schedule classes — thus barrihg the professional man or 'woman but hot the horse. The decision ' was on the motion of Major Dunk and 1 the compromise Suggested fry Mr Cohen. 'Mr Stevens was agairist any distinction being made at all. It was reported that Messrs Gillies, Balsillie, and Mcßde had beeil' promised .£4lB for the Society. Mr Pringle desired to move that they be allowed £1 per day out of pocket expenses, but this they declined, and a vote of thanks was passed instead. The amount was £IOO more -that last year. The Chairman stated that as the House would probably be sitting all members of Parliament had been invited to the Show. Tho Entertainment Committee was left to deal With tho matter of the entertainment of visitors generally. The next meeting was fixed for November 26.
