MANGAWEKA.
(From Our Own Correspon dent.) After a couple of days fine weather rain lias again set 'in, causing more trouble to the County roadmen, who have great difficulty, imkeeping slips clear. Almost every week I have to report on sections in this district changing hands, and to-day there is word going round that Mr F. vj. Hammond, of the Kawatau, has sold Ms property to Mr Stuckey, of the VTairarapa, at a very satisfactory figure. Mr Hammond took up land in this part when it was in its infancy, and by pluck and hard work has converted what was a roughlooking section intoi a snug little iarm with a smiling homestead. The departure of Mr Hammond will pe keenly felt in the Kawatau, as he Was always to the fore in the atttacemeut of the district. Mr Stnckey was, I believe, a very successful sheep farmer in the Wairarapa. The many friends of Mr E. Horne will be pleased to hear that he is out of the hospital, and well on the way towards convalesence.
