ARBITRATION COURT.

Per Press Association. Dunedin, October 7. At th 3 Arbitration Court [to-day Stokes Bros, were fined £1 and costs on a charge of liaving committed a breach of the tailoress’ award in liaving failed to forward the names of present apprentices to the Inspector of Factories within a month of the filing of the award. W. Gregg and 00. were fined £1 and costs on a charge of having broken the engine-drivers’ award by employing a non-unionist as a driver and paying him less than the minimum rate of wages, and the same firm was fined £1 and costs for having employed a non-unionist while a number of members of the union were unemployed and willing to undertake the. work. J. Waite was ordered to pay costs on a charge of having failed to pay the minimum rate ox wages under the engine-drivers’ award, and in the case of B. E. Grimmett, builder, charged with breaking the carpenters’ and joiners’ award by employing a non-unionist when unionists were available, a ‘broach was recorded. ‘lj Andrew Phillips, aged 31, flaxmill employee, claimed £3OO from Shiels and Hitchou (James Shiels, Henry Hitchou, and John Jones), as compensation for injuries’ received at the respondents’ mill in July last. On Wednesday the Court will take breaches at Oamarn, aud after visiting Timaru will proceed to Now Plymouth and then to Auckland. Mr W. Scott, secretary of the Otago Employers’ Association, will appear in the Cooks aud Stewards’ dispute at Auckland.
