REPAIRS TO BRIDGES.

Per Press Association,

Masterton, October 7. Extensive repairs are being carried out to railway bridges on the Well-ington-Wood villo section. A gang of workmen recently completed seven months work on the Waipawa bridge, screwing tip rods and removing any parts necessary. The Fernside bridge is now receiving attention. A new approach is being added to the south end. Considerable difficulty is experienced in connection with the latter undertaking owing to the existence of an enormous boulder in the locality. It is anticipated that repairing the various Mauriceville bridges will occupy over two years. A largo amount of pile driving is to be done and in some instances parapets are to be removed or the distance between them widened so as to minimise the risk of accidents to incautious travellers or absentminded railway men. The Waingawa bridge has also been renovated and screwed up.
